Deze waarde kan positief of negatief zijn. Negatieve scheefheid geeft doorgaans aan dat de <i>staart<\/i> zich aan de linkerkant van de verdeling bevindt. Een positieve waarde geeft doorgaans aan dat de staart aan de rechterkant zit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"> <b>Kurtosis<\/b> is eenvoudigweg een maatstaf voor de \u2018staart\u2019 van een dataset of distributie.
